Exclusive: A moderate House Democrat says he thinks Republicans and his own party are inadequate in response to assassination Charlie Kirk.
“I’m disappointed. I hope that as a group, Democrats and Republicans, expressed their condolences to his family and him and expressed their true grief.” Rep. Tom Suozzi told Fox News Digital Digital in an interview.
He later warned: “The punching counter is a natural reaction for most people. But we can’t continue to do so. It’s very destructive, and it’s a path to destruction.”
Suozzi said he particularly believes that the aisle needs to be more leaders.

“I don’t think there is enough effort to try to bring us together,” he said.
The New York lawmaker is one of the minority Democrats who participated in House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La, at the U.S. Capitol on Monday.
DN.Y. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters he did not attend because he “had a meeting.”
But Suozzi said he spoke to several House Democrats who said they had no idea it was happening at all.
“I’m not going to blame anyone, Democrats or Republicans. I don’t know the truth as far as anything outreach is concerned,” Suozzi said.

“I do know that I talk to a few members, you know [Democrats] For example, I know to attend a bipartisan prayer breakfast. They said, “Oh, I don’t even know.”
Jeffries and Johnson both called for solidarity after their killing last week, with lawmakers expressing condemnation of political violence.
But since then, partisan tensions have erupted, with Republicans accusing Democrats of anti-snooping and inciting political tensions that led to Kirk’s death.

In turn, Democrats accuse Republicans of suffering similar tensions before and after the assassination.
In the house, the review has been burned In Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. After an interview with progressive news outlet Zeteo, conservatives accused her of defaming Kirk’s legacy days after his death.
“There are a lot of people out there talking about him just wanting to have a civil debate,” Omar said. “You know, nothing is more like pretending that his words and actions have not been recorded yet and have been around for the past decade or so.”
Progressive Minnesota also called Kirk’s death “inexplicable” and expressed condolences to his wife and young children.
Rep. Nancy Mace, RS.C. Make a vote In order to condemn Omar’s comments, Suozzi’s move called it “very unhelpful.”
When asked about Omar’s remarks, Suozzi did not mention her directly, but said: “I Just don’t think that now is the time to try to inspire more anger. ”
For example, if he was able to speak at Kirk’s vigil, Suoz said: “I want to say I really don’t know Charlie Kirk or what I know about him before this incident. But, like everyone, I’ve been seeing all his media coverage because he assassinated him, and I saw a few different times, people would ask, ‘What do you want to remember, what do you want to remember?'” He said: “I want to be remembered with the courage to realize my faith.” ”

“One of the most difficult concepts Jesus has ever had is loving your enemies,” Suozzi said. “That’s what we need to do now.”
Suozzi also accuses the current social media environment of facilitating partitioning.

“We have to understand that there is a very strong force to work on us right now. Social media is corrupt, and I think, not only our foreign opponents, but people trying to get political or economic benefits,” he said.
“I think we have to be very aware that some people use our freedom of speech and use our social media…just lying and making shaped videos and explosive comments to make us … hate each other.”
