Hooters plans to make iconic orange shorts less revealing as part of brand rebirth

The orange shorts worn by the Hooters waitress have been American restaurant chain.

They were once the beacon of the so-called original “Nuolong” institution, part of what its slogan calls “pleasant cheesy” hooters.

But for Neil Kiefer, CEO of the group now leading the group’s team seeking to retake the Hooters brand, these uniforms are more than fabrics. They were deeply rooted in the identity of Hooters, who wanted to dial back from Risqué.

“That’s what I expected,” she added.

She said she heard people who didn’t like the Hooters dress code, which did not include colorful nails or visible tattoos.

“But to be honest, I think that makes it more professional,” she said.

Lamb also appeared on the back cover of 2025 Hooters Swimsuit Calendar. She said she likes uniforms.

“Everything is covered,” she said. “There’s nothing that doesn’t need to go out.”

Kiefer is quick to point out that Hooters’ attraction is not only attractive to young people.

“I can assure you that at 2pm, there are a bunch of men and women there,” he said.

For Kiefer, this frequent guest proves that Hooters work best when the outfit feels approachable – sporty enough to be “pleasantly cheesy,” but doesn’t show it alienates customers there Wings, beer and friendship.

“What may still be upset about some people is that shorts aren’t that shorts, but it’s not the brand,” Kiefer said.
