President Donald Trump On the iconic side of the week, it reveals an unprecedented wave of tariffs for imports to the United States, consistent with his long-standing position that other countries have taken advantage of the U.S. in trade.
Trump revealed Historical tariffs At the ceremony of the White House Rose Garden’s “Make America Rich Again” event, it was asserted that these new responsibilities will bring new work to American workers.
“For countries that are not good at treating us, we will calculate the combined interest rates for all their relevant taxes, non-monetary barriers and other forms of cheating,” Trump said Wednesday.
“And, because we’re very friendly, we’re going to charge them about half the charge and have been accusing us all the time,” he said. “The tariffs will not be a complete reciprocity. I could have done it. Yes. But for many countries, it will be difficult.”

The tariff plan will set a baseline tax of 10% on all U.S. import taxes, as well as customized tariffs for countries that impose higher tariffs on U.S. goods. The 10% baseline tariff will take effect on Saturday, while others will take effect on Wednesday.
The Trump administration previously imposed a 25% tariff on imported vehicles, up to 25% on certain commodities in Mexico and Canada, and 20% on goods from China. According to the White House, tariffs already imposed on Canada and Mexico remain unaffected, but according to the White House, China’s new tariffs on China will increase above its previous responsibilities to Beijing.

The tariffs face strong opposition from both Congress and allies including Canada and Australia. A group of senators from both parties introduced legislation Friday saying the Trade Review Act of 2025 requires the executive to provide 48-hour notice to Congress before tariffs are imposed. Likewise, the measure will allow tariffs to expire after 60 days unless Congress adopts a joint resolution that will be codified.

“My advice to every country now: don’t retaliate,” Becente said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday. “If you retaliate, it will escalate.”

trump card It was also revealed that several members of the National Security Council, led by National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, were fired on Thursday. Trump said the firing affected a few employees and he still has high confidence in the national security team.
“Always, we will let go of people we don’t like, or people we don’t think can do the job or people who may be loyal to others,” Trump told Air Force One.
During a review of Waltz’s use of signal groups chat, the shooting took place to discuss a strike against Yemen after a reporter was accidentally added to the group.
Waltz creates group chats that include White House leaders such as Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The chat also includes Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg.

The White House said confidential information was not shared through encrypted messaging services. However, the Atlantic Ocean released a complete exchange of information on March 26. The messages include certain attack details, including specific aircraft and strike times.
Despite this, the White House defended Waltz and said the White House no longer studied the incident.
“As the president is very clear, Mike Waltz remains a big part of his national security team,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Monday. “For our part, the case has been closed in the White House.”
Musk’s threshold status
The White House confirmed that SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk will leave his position later this spring to run the Department of Administration Efficiency (DOGE) in response to Politico’s report that Trump has “regressed” to his role in the coming weeks.

Leavitt posted on Wednesday: “This ‘scoop’ is trash.” “Elon Musk and President Trump both *publicly* said Elon will be disconnected from public services after Doge’s incredible work is completed.”

Musk is a “special government employee.” The executive or legislative department is allowed to resolve short-term projects for up to 130 days in a 365-day period. For Musk, this period will expire at the end of May.
Musk and Trump have previously said they expect Musk to complete the work necessary for the threshold within that time window.
