A Santa Monica man arrested over the weekend after targeting a fake bomb threat Coachella Valley Music and Arts FestivalPolice said.
Davis Darvish, 40, participated Saturday at the Agua Caliente Casino in the Cathedral City, and police said he told the casino that he would be responsible for bombing the popular Riverside County Music Festival.
The casino is about a 40-minute drive from the Imperial Polo Club in Indiana, California, where the festival usually attracts over 100,000 people.
According to the Cathedral City Police Department, authorities immediately reminded the holiday police and provided details about the man he was driving and the white Tesla.
Officials identified Darvish using DMV information and issued a “In Surveillance” alert. Police said Darvish drove from Cathedral City to the Coachella Valley where authorities used an automated license plate reader to track his movements. Police said he arrived in Palm Springs around noon.
Darvish was arrested for allegedly reporting a false bomb threat. Police said the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad did not find any weapons or bomb-making materials in Davish’s vehicles.
He is still in custody in lieu of $1 million in bail. Davish is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, according to prison records.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the situation.
