Google revamps Discover page to show content from creators | TechCrunch

Google announced Wednesday that it is updating the discovery page in its flagship search app so that you can follow specific publishers and creators to surface more from what you like.

The update follows features launched by Google last month, allowing users to choose their choice Search results for the “Top Stories” section of news sites and blogs.

Google said in the coming weeks that people will also start seeing different types of content on Discover, including articles, YouTube shorts, and posts from X and Instagram, as well as posts from creators and publishers on the web. It says Google will add more types of sources to this combination.

Through these moves, Google attempts to give users more control over their content, while also extending its discovery page to include more sources.

However, it is not clear what Google’s standard is to display the creator content on the discovery page. (Responses to this question were not provided prior to publication.)

To use the feature, when you see content from a specific publisher or creator, you can click on their name to view all of their content on a page and choose to follow them. Google says it will show more content from the sources you are following.

These announcements were seen by publishers Traffic plummeted due to Google’s AI search. Search giants even launched a product called Supply Wall lets publishers earn income from sources other than advertising.
