Google’s latest video generation model, VEO 3, is about to visit Google Photos. The new models available on the Create tab of the mobile app will allow users in the U.S. to turn their still images into video clips.
Google Photos has already provided video generation with the recently added Photos to Video feature, but the company says adding VEO 3 enhances the feature with high-quality videos. The launch also represents how the company can bring its latest AI technology to consumers through its products – Google Photos already has More than 1.5 billion monthly active users As of May 2025.
Introduced exist possible At its I/O developer meeting, Google brings VEO 3adding image to video generation, to its Gemini app In July, it is available on its AI Ultra and AI Pro subscription plans. In these plans, users can generate three videos per day that will carry visible and invisible watermarks to determine that the video is AI-generated.
In Google Photos, the company imagines users bringing memories into life, even animate old photos. The existing image-to-video feature is powered by VEO 2 and allows users to select a photo from their gallery and select one of the two tips for “Subtle Action” or surprising animations by tapping the “I feel lucky” button. The model then generates a six-second clip that can be shared with others.

In addition to VEO 3, these include mixing options to change the style of your photo; doing collages; putting montages from your gallery; creating mobile 3D photos called “movie” photos; and tools to make GIFs from pictures.
