Google and PayPal team up on agentic commerce | TechCrunch

PayPal Announce On Wednesday, a new multi-year partnership with Google will see the payment giant use Google’s AI technology to create a new AI-powered shopping experience. Meanwhile, PayPal’s solutions will be integrated into Google’s products, which will partner with Google Cloud to host and improve its technology infrastructure.

The two companies did not elaborate on the specific type of agency shopping experience they would co-create, but said Google will contribute its AI technology and expertise, while PayPal will leverage its global payment infrastructure, personalization and identity solutions.

In addition, both companies will join others, advocating the adoption of Google’s new Agent payment agreement, announced on Tuesday. The open agreement aims to enable purchases initiated by AI agents and has been supported by more than 60 merchants and financial institutions.

As part of the deal, PayPal will be listed as a key payment provider for card payments in areas such as Google Cloud, Google Ads and Google Play. Other products integrated by Google include PayPal’s brand checkout, Hyperwallet Spend services and PayPal payment services.
