The Trump administration condemns Saudi and French leadership efforts United Nations On Friday, the General Assembly voted 142 in favor, with the United States and nine others voting against it, and 12 abstentions.
United Nations adviser Morgan Ortagus condemned the vote. “The resolution is undoubtedly a gift to Hamas,” she told the congress members.
“The United States will not commit such an insult to the victims of October 7, but we will continue to lead the real-world efforts to end the battle and achieve permanent peace,” today’s resolution is another counter-start gesture, only rewarding Hamas, delaying the war and weakening the diplomatic efforts of international people.

A White House official told Fox News numbers after the vote: “As the president said, if he recognizes a Palestinian country, he will win the Hamas reward and will block the hostages from being taken home, and he thinks they shouldn’t be rewarded. So he won’t do that.”

The declaration was proposed at the United Nations meeting in July to map what its sponsors call an “irreversible” path to the Palestinian state. It condemned Hamas’s October 7 attack, demanded the release of hostages, and called on Hamas to give up control of Gaza and hand over its weapons to Palestinian authorities.
In Paris, the French Foreign Ministry praised the results, calling it a “historic vote”, which demonstrates the international community’s determination to promote an “ambitious roadmap for peace and security for all people in the region”.
