SB 1, also known as the “Riley Gaines Act of 2025,” requires middle school, high school and college athletes to participate in sports teams that are aligned with biological sexual behavior.
The restroom, locker room and sleeping area will also be limited to biological boys in spaces that only allow for boys designated as girls and biological girls.

The bill now heads to Republican Gov. Brian Kemp’s table, which is expected to be Signing legislation. The measure is a priority for House Speaker Jon Burns and Gov. Burt Jones, both Republicans.
“The conference conveyed a clear message – the girls’ sports or space in Georgia are not popular,” Burns said.
Jones said the conference “a historic step towards achieving the key goals of this conference and protecting women’s movement.”
“I want to thank all the brave women and girls who share personal stories and help shape this legislation,” Jones continued. “Their courage is commendable and ensures that the rights of female athletes are protected and protected by the law. I look forward to standing with Gov. Brian Kemp, Speaker Jon Burns and female athletes with families across the state, when the “Riley Gaines Act of 2025″ signed the law.”

The other 25 states have banned biological males from participating in girls’ sports.
The measure is passed on visibility on Trans Day, where transgender people and their supporters march, hold community gatherings and gatherings against legislation targeting LGBTQ+ people.
