“These dogs are Betsy’s attachments. Betsy has to do errands every time they go with her. These dogs like to ride with Betsy, and even if we go for supper, it doesn’t matter. We go for supper. We go for supper and the dogs will be in the car. They’re very sticking on Betsy,” Padilla explained.
“You know, after Kuved, she really liked to bring people around Gene. So she was super protected.”
Padilla worked with Hackman and Arakawa for ten years, training and watching their dogs. He told Fox News Digital that it has been at least a month, or even longer, since he last met Arakawa.
“It’s hard to explain and tolerate what these dogs mean to these people,” he said.
Former homicide detective Ted Williams told Fox News Digital that the three dogs would become protective if an invader enters their homes because Hackman and Arakawa are very close to their animals.

“That’s what we know: the hackers are very close to their three dogs, if someone is going to come in and there are some signs of foul, I think those dogs will do or act in a defensive way.
“There is absolutely nothing in the investigation that can be said that these two men acted in a defensive manner, such as attacking the intruders,” Williams said.
Padilla doesn’t want to guess what happened to the couple or the dog they died because their death is part of an ongoing investigation.
However, he said Alakava would never hurt her animals.
Watch: Investigators exclude carbon monoxide in death of wife Gene Hackman
“I want to reiterate that Betty has nothing to do with those three dogs. I think there is absolutely no purpose or no purpose. There is a reason for this. It’s just my heartbreak with Zinna. Zinna isn’t leaving the Betsy side, they’re hips. It’s a very realistic connection,” he said.
Hackman and Arakawa have three dogs. The oldest is Zinfandel, which is a mixed variety by Zinna. She is the dead dog of the couple. She is 12 years old.
The couple also owns two German Shepherds: Bear, 4 and Nikita, 7.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Padilla described the challenging way to rescue one of the two surviving dogs. He explained that Nikita was particularly difficult.

“She’s really hard. We’re trying to get her, I’m using snacks, because she’s really hungry, so I gave her snacks. That’s too many people. Unfortunately, people have to use the animal service of the trap, we’re able to catch her, and I picked her up the next day,” Padilla said.
Padilla explained that Arakawa and Hackman are long-time animal lovers and donate to the community.
“They donate a lot to the Humane Society. They will go beyond and beyond. For the tail of Santa Fe, one thing Bessie will do for Christmas, she will buy Christmas dinner for the entire staff. We’ve been open for 365 days and we have staff here with dogs and she’ll provide food feasts for the staff.”
Padilla continued: “They are so kind and generous.”
