price
Home security systems tend to start at a rate of several hundred dollars and rise as more devices are added. This can be a tough price for any renter, which is why we focus on a $200 and under package where possible. Remember that if you want a lot of extra features or monitoring, the subscription fee can be increased by $15 to $30 per month.
Finally, be alert to major home security platforms such as Vivint, Frontpoint, etc. Many frequently run perennial transactions often represent products inaccurately, and others may want you to sign up for a quote before revealing any pricing information.
Install
We know that renters want to keep the walls clean and get the sediment back, so we prefer systems that can be placed carefully instead of drilling the holes. This also makes it easier for you to carry the system with you when you move around.
sensor
Even a small home security system comes with front door sensors and simple disarming options, perfect for renters. But we also want to see other investments at these prices. For example, our Ring Alert Selection is a motion detector and range extender that helps you provide more complete coverage. Some brands like Arlo offer sensors with multiple features, which are especially suitable for smaller spaces. Home renters may want to add additional sensors to other windows and back doors, which will increase the price.
app
Application controls are important when setting up a security system with multiple devices. We look for applications that are intuitive and fast-enabled. The app should allow you to check the status of any specific device and add new devices as well as weapons or disarm them at will.
Smart device compatibility
If you already have a smart device like a Nest speaker or the Echo Show, you should look for a home security system that you can use it for more alert options. Apple and Siri compatibility is the hardest to find, although it does include DIY systems like more advanced residence suites. We rank slightly lower than usual because we use a hub (usually included) and don’t have a camera (usually not included in the launcher suite), so there is less demand for smart integration.
Power Options
Wireless systems are often essential for DIY renters. You may also see the option of battery backup during a power failure or cellular connection when Wi-Fi is reduced, but this will cost an extra fee.
Other equipment
A good system for lessors includes the option to add more devices to the system easily, preferably from brands and third-party smart devices. This allows renters to easily expand when they discover new demand or move to a larger location.
