Android, this is your move. Language Learning Application Duolingo It was announced on Tuesday that chess guidance will be launched to Android phones after three months of introducing the game to iOS devices. The company also said it will bring iOS to iOS in the next few weeks.
Duolingo made the announcement at its flagship conference on Tuesday Duoconactually held on the Duolingo website.
The company said a “small portion” of duolingo customers had already obtained chess early on Android before it was launched on Tuesday.
“Our goal has always been to make everyone get the best education in the world. With these updates, we have taken another important step in that direction,” Luis von Ahn, CEO and co-founder of Duolingo, said in a press release. “Whether you are adding Duolingo scores to your LinkedIn profile or fighting real people in an Oscar-guided chess competition, we show that education can be useful, trustworthy and truly fun.”

Oscar is the Duolingo character of the beard, the face of the app’s chess element known for teaching languages but also teaches chess, music and mathematics.
The Android version of the chess version will be available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.
iOS’s Player VS. Game Mode will allow players to challenge other Duolingo chess players in real-time matches. According to Duolingo, Android will also get the player player option sometime after iOS.
Duolingo will launch Player-vs.-player mode in chess game on its iOS devices.
Duolingo chess is mainly used for beginners and teaches using puzzle and bite-sized courses. The company calls this format “Bingable”, which means players can take several lessons in a row, rather than just participating in a long chess game.
Players can also get some tips and tricks from Duolingo’s chess counselor, Avatar, Oscar, and perhaps some interesting irony. The company said millions of customers are already on iOS and hope that the number will expand significantly with the launch of Android.
“Curiosity” about multiplayer mode
CNET senior writer Mike Sorrentino has so far loved Duolingo’s chess. He played on iPhone in the summer and has been tested on Android now.
“I’m a chess beginner, so it’s very useful for learning how to convert pawns to Queens or creating forks that require an opponent to give up the work,” Sorrentino said. “I’m curious about multiplayer games, but I’d like to have a docking element because I don’t want to play against people who go above the beginner level.”
Sorrentino said he wanted to see Duolingo add “strategy advice” when playing the full game because these games last longer than chess puzzles.
“That way, I can learn in the game, instead of having to rely on myself, because sometimes I do want to play for two minutes and then continue my day,” he said.
Scores added to LinkedIn
Also on Tuesday, Duolingo announced that language learners can link their Duolingo scores to their LinkedIn profile. Duolingo scores are a real-time meter that shows learners’ ability to master language and can help seek work and networking.
