When will the iPhone 17 be released?
In nearly a decade, Apple announced its new iPhone lineup in early September. The only exception was during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, when the release of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro pushed it back to October 23, and November 13 of the iPhone 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max.
This year, the tried and tested schedule has been followed. Bookings will begin on Friday after the phone was announced on Tuesday, with first delivery arriving on September 19.
Here is a chart of the release dates of iPhone models through the iPhone 13 series; even though it follows the same schedule as the iPhone 17, we added the iPhone Air as our own category, as Apple didn’t give it a version number:

Will all new iPhones be released in September?
Apple is expected to release everything in the fall, but the cheapest option. this iPhone 16e is released In February, it’s still available as the cheapest iPhone model. Apple is widely expected to follow the same format in February 2026 rumored iPhone 17E.
Apple’s future iPhone release date
Apple is expected to change its release format with the rumored iPhone 18. Reports indicate that Apple will Release high-end models only in fall 2026 – iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, Air and A Rumored new foldable iPhone – and release the rest of the line in winter 2027.
Why did Apple split the iPhone release date?
By pushing its top professional and Pro Max models in September, Apple can capture most of the Holiday shopping season. Releasing a more basic model in the winter can cause excitement from the second peak, but hard-working fans and holiday shoppers will spend their money on more expensive models in the fall.
