Not all horror movies are equal, and Science fiction horror It’s my favorite subgenre because he squeezes into vast space from every aspect, with science-designed creatures going wrong, and abandoned spacecraft holding indescribable horror. The Alien franchise is probably the most famous movie in the genre, but it’s not the only one worth watching.
One of my favorites is Pandorum. It was a claustrophobic journey into space where the mechanic woke up on a colonial boat and saw things become very wrong. There is an abandoned spaceship, a horrible thing hunting in the corridor, unfolding a mystery in the intestines of the ship. It exudes a huge dead space resonance, which is an underrated classic.

Pandorum captures the horror of a broken ship, a fear surrounded by the hull, with only space waiting outside, and the world juxtaposes body terror and survival fear. Its cinematic style caught my attention and even though I desperately tried to look away, I looked at me.
Corporal Bauer (played by Ben Foster) wakes up from frozen legs, feeling unsettling amnesia. Almost immediately, it was obvious that things didn’t go away according to Elysium’s plan, and Elysium’s colonial ship transported 60,000 people from the overpopular earth to the New World. The machines around him were degraded, the power was flashing, and he seemed lonely.
Ball soon joins Lieutenant Payton (Ltd. Dennis Quaid), and he also has no answer to wake up from his frozen leg. After the two of them managed to activate the auxiliary power, they decided to go to the bridge to figure out what was going on. Ball managed to escape the frozen area and found the rest of the ship in worse condition.
Ball must be tied up with other survivors to endure the madness of Elysium.
On a ship that settled on a new planet from its original humanitarian mission, he was vaguely fought as human beings as humans. Bower found two companions – members of the agricultural team did not speak English but were hunting predatory creatures, while environmental scientist Nadia was one.
The three of them reset the power toward the reactor on the ship and make everything run so they can determine what happened and why. Along the way, they meet a rough survivor who tells them that things collapse when the bridge receives bad news from Earth and are surpassed by Pandorum, who occupies a space of discomfort that can cause mental illness, triggered by a strong emotional state.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Payton, who stayed in the freezer, found another survivor who seemed to be struggling in Pandorum and told Payton what was actually going on on the bridge. Payton tries to calm the survivors, but the more they talk, the more he seems to be getting worse. Payton pushed him into a frozen pod to prevent him from wreaking havoc as he continued talking about Ball restarting the reactor and getting the ship to work again by what he needed to do.
Lieutenant Payton tried to help Ball, but might need to help himself.
The Pandorum atmosphere is perfect for anyone who loves hard sci-fi horror. The frightening film lasts less than 2 hours, with a clumsy, collapsed spacecraft as the main suit, a winding and claustrophobic passage, and a world that is developing within a metal wall. Pandorum twists everyone’s perspective, monsters on the walls, and the tragedy that makes all work together bring exciting adventures, full of fear.
The third act of Pandorum is when all of this escalation and secrets are revealed – the truth of the bridge, the ships on board and the survivors on board – but you need to be careful to find out what is going on.
Pandorum wasn’t a hit when it was released, but 16 years later, it’s still an amazing example of the sci-fi horror genre that brings a lot of twists and turns. Free streaming on Tubifind out today’s Elysium to hide.
