Apple recently sent an invitation to “Awesome” Special events on September 9widely regarded as its annual iPhone announcement event.
Rumors about coming iPhone lineup It has been in circulation for several months now, and the leakage volume has dropped as early as last year. One of the most looping rumors is that in addition to the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, Apple will also launch a new ultra-thin model called The The iPhone 17 Air.
I bought a new iPhone on the market, but the more air I hear, the less excited I get about it.
this iPhone 17 Air With its slim image as code, just like its competitors Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. Rumors say it’s smaller than the Pro Max, but bigger than the baseline iPhone. The iPhone 17 Air should have a 6.6-inch monitor (slightly smaller than iPhone 16 Plus But iPhone 16 Pro). It is not clear whether the iPhone 17 Air has the standard A19 chip or the A19 Pro.
For those who think the baseline iPhone is too basic but don’t have cash upgrades to Pro, it seems that Apple is positioning the iPhone 17 Air as a positioning.
So, why don’t I like the iPhone 17 Air? This is my reason.

Apple’s iPhone 16e (pictured below) has a camera. Assume that there is only one possible iPhone 17 air.
One camera is not enough
Apple is said to have made some hardware tradeoffs with the iPhone 17 Air to reduce devices. The iPhone 17 Air may have only one rear camera instead of two rear cameras, which is one less than the baseline iPhone and will match $599 iPhone 16e. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo Bloomberg Reporter Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air will only have one rear camera for wide-angle shooting.
I have a dual camera iPhone since 2017 and I don’t think I can only return one more lens now.
I know that the iPhone 17 Air can offer smart sensor cropping to mimic the appearance of 2x zoom. But in daily use, I may miss the super camera, especially the ones used for macro shooting. I took a lot of food photos (don’t judge) and it’s just something I’m used to. I’m not sure if a single camera iPhone would bring me the same level of detail, and it’s a tradeoff that I’d rather not just make for thinner shapes.

Battery life concerns
Another major issue I have with iPhone 17 air is battery life. A potential drawback to smaller phones is that they have a slightly smaller battery.
According to some reports, iPhone 17 air can use silicon-axis batteries to help extend battery life, and its high density may increase its “actual capacity” by 15% to 20%. There is also some speculation that the adaptive power feature in iOS 26 can help adjust iPhone performance based on usage modes, thus saving battery life.
This didn’t help alleviate my overall battery anxiety with a thinner phone. I’m the kind of person who likes to fill up your phone with as much battery as possible (even if I know it’s not always the best practice for battery life). And I would rather not carry the extra power bank with me.
For me, a slightly clumsy phone deserves the extra battery life that passes. If it turns out that the iPhone 17 Air has roughly the same battery life as the baseline iPhone, I might have changed my tone, but for now, skeptical about me.
I’m sure Apple can offer MagSafe battery accessories to help reduce battery life, but why start using a thin phone?

I’m just a thin phone girl
The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be a slim 5.5mm, which will make it one of the thinnest phones in the world. Sorry, but this is too thin.
A few weeks ago, I had the honor to Samsung Galaxy S25 Edgetoo little for my taste. Slim phones seem too fragile to me, even though they are said to be durable. I always feel like I’m going to grab it in half.
No matter how thin the phone is, I tend to tick a box on it, thus denying its slimness. I even added the weight of the phone by connecting a pop-up socket, which increased its thickness and made my security so that the phone would not fly out of my hands. To be fair, I tend to carry my phone in a bag rather than in my pants’ pockets, so I don’t need a thinner phone.
Everything comes down to price
The iPhone 17 Air seems likely to be priced between the price of the iPhone 17 and the price of the iPhone 17 Pro. There are signs that it could cost about $900 New rumor points to the price of the 256GB model at $1,099.
If the cost of the iPhone 17 air is significantly higher than the baseline iPhone and there aren’t enough features besides a slim profile, then it doesn’t make sense to use the ultra-slim model. And if the iPhone 17 Pro offers more features, there is no more money, then the Pro might be a better buy.
At the moment, all this is just speculation. I don’t even know if the iPhone 17 Air is real or not. But if its main claim is thin, then thin probably might not be for me.
