Apple has at least upgraded the iPad series – air and entry-level models. The new iPad Air now has an M3 chip Compared with M2 There was last year. It also has the magic keyboard upgrades added to the line of features buttons. But Apple also updated its base iPad, adding more storage and better chips for $349, which is the most important upgrade.
You can now book all new iPads on the Apple website, but it won’t work until March 12.
Basic iPads are over-upgraded
Apple updates its entry-level iPad for the first time Since 2022expired upgrades to faster processors, but ignores Apple Intelligence. The new iPad is still priced at $349 (£329, AUD 599), but with 128GB of storage and the A16 chip instead of the A14, it seems like a better buy now. It won’t run Apple Intelligence, but in reality, who cares?
Still, it’s a bit ridiculous that Apple didn’t move on and offer the A17 chip to the iPad iPad mini ownswhich will give it the intelligence of Apple and more of the future prospects.
The entry-level iPad has been CNET’s editorial choice for some time, because its price makes the most sense for everyday homes. The latest iPad looks like a better option, but stay tuned for the CNET review when we get to know CNET.
The upgraded iPad now also has an optional storage tier of 512GB, but other add-ons seem to be exactly the same. It will work with the same keyboard work board Apple made for the 10th generation iPad, and unfortunately it will still only work with USB-C pencils and first-generation Apple pencils.
iPad Air: Chip Bump, new keyboard
The iPad Air has an M3 chip in both 11-inch and 13-inch models. They are priced the same as before: an entry-level model of $599 (£599, AU$999) or $799 (£799, AU$1,349), but unless you pay, there is only 128GB of storage. The new Magic Keyboard starts at $269 (£269, AUD449), but based on my previous experience with similarly upgraded M4 iPad Pro Magic keyboards, it’s a series of subtle upgrades.
The new air is the same size as the last one, so if you upgrade and already have one, you may not need a new magic keyboard. This also means that the “Air” iPad is thicker and heavier than the “Pro” model.
Another surprise: Apple hasn’t raised the price of any iPad models. This is a welcome change What happened Use iPhone 16e.
This is a developing story.
