Become a Pro Chef at Home With iOS 18.4's Apple News Food

Apple released iOS’s first public beta 18.4 On February 24, more than a month after iOS 18.3 was released. Although iOS updated beta versions may contain features that cannot be accessed to iPhone, Apple announced on February 21 When iOS 18.4 was released in April, a feature in Beta will be available: a new news section called Food.

The new section will offer recipes from publications such as Good Housekeeping, Food and Wine. You can also find other stories about food and restaurants there.

Developers and beta testers now have access to this feature, but since it is still in beta, it may be wrong or there are other issues. If you want to try out the new features now before they are released to the public in April, I recommend you download iOS 18.4 Beta on something other than your main device.

Here’s what you know about Apple News Food in iOS 18.4.

What is Apple News Food?

Apple News Food is a new part of the Apple News app that will be available on all iPhones when iOS 18.4 is released in April.

“With the new food feature, users will be able to find stories curated by Apple’s news editors, as well as browsing, searching and filtering for thousands of recipes in the recipe catalog – new recipes are added every day,” Apple wrote in an email.

How do I get Apple News Food?

1. Public news.
2. Tap The following In the lower right corner of the screen.
3. Tap food.

You will see the options Recipe Catalog and Saved recipes Near the top of the page, you can scroll down to see other recipes and articles. You can also click on the fork and knife in the upper right corner of the screen at any time at any time in the food section Recipe Catalog. Once you enter Recipe Catalogthe fork and tool symbol will be replaced with the box symbol, which you can click to access your Saved recipes.

To save a recipe, click the recipe you are interested in and click save. Recipes will be stored in your Saved recipes.

How much does Apple News Food cost?

The food section is free for everyone, but the free version only gives you access to some stories and recipes every day. With the free version of this section, I can access similar recipes Million dollar sausage balls this Cucumber – Avacado – Dutch Sandwich. I’m not a picky eater and would love to try both, but I can’t access other recipes that I’m interested in the free version.

However, if you subscribe to Apple News Plus ($13 per month) You have complete access to the food area. This means you can browse the catalog of thousands of recipes and articles, save recipes in your own digital recipes, and access recipes offline. The recipe catalog makes it easy to find dinner ideas, vegetarian recipes and even cocktails.

Can you do other things with Apple News Food?

You can also access what Apple calls Cook Mode in Apple News Food, which will show step-by-step instructions on the device full screen. You will see one step at a time, but you have to swipe on the screen to go to the next step. I tried to ask Siri to go to the next step, and the digital assistant ignored my request. If you are cooking and your hands are covered with flour, grease or anything else you don’t want to call, this can be a problem, but you still have to take the next step.

Chef mode is enabled in Apple News Food.

This feature does prevent your iPhone from falling asleep or dimming the screen. Good because then you don’t have to unlock your phone every minute to make sure you follow the instructions (not something I’ve done or anything else).

Cook mode can also show you a complete list of each recipe by tapping raw material Near the top of the screen. This means you don’t have to write down an ingredient list the next time you go to the store.

However, you cannot copy and paste these ingredients or instructions from news into other applications, such as comments. You can share a link to a recipe or simply save it, but if you want to ask a roommate or partner to pick up some ingredients while you are out there, you can’t easily copy and paste these ingredients into your message.

To access Cook Mode, click on the recipe in the app and click chef.

Don’t forget that this feature is still in Beta, so Apple has plenty of time to change or tweak it. I wish Apple would add Siri integration, so I wouldn’t apply the phone with meatball grease. Developers and beta testers can now try Apple News Food, and when Apple releases iOS 18.4, everyone will be visiting it in April.
