Pop star Katy Perry may need to update the lyrics to her hit song Fireworks to “Baby, you’re an astronaut.” On Monday, Perry became one of the latest celebrity to visit the space. Writer and former journalist Lauren Sanchez is also part of Blue Origin’s success NS-31 mission. Sanchez is the fiancee of Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and Blue Origin.
Aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, biological focus research scientist Amanda Nguyễn, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and CBS host Gayle King (Oprah Winfrey’s Bestie) fill the roster for all-female staff. Winfrey attended the press conference as an observer.
The crew rolled to the launch pad of the Livia electric truck and took the elevator to board the crew capsule. Bezos personally escorted them to the Rockets. The flight lasted about 11 minutes. Perry sang a wonderful world in the flight, although the choppy audio made it sometimes hard to hear the crew during the live broadcast.
This is the first all-female space flight since 1963 Soviet astronaut Valentina Tereshkova’s historic Solo Space Flight. Tereshkova is the first woman in space.

Is the new Shepard reaching the space?
Blue Origin’s new Shepard is launched from Texas.
The debate on representative space is underway. For example, everyone agrees that the ISS is located in space, but rides like commercial rockets (such as blue origin operation) fall into the gray area. One benchmark is the Karman Line, an imaginary line that is 62 miles above the Earth’s surface.
NASA Meet “There is indeed no clear boundary between the end of the Earth’s atmosphere and the beginning of outer space,” but most scientists recognize the karma line at the transition point of space. So, unless you want to make a picky argument, Perry and the other crew made a brief visit to space during the mission.
After the spacecraft passed the karma line, the crew experienced weightlessness. The return trip involved a gentle parachute assisting the landing with the crew capsule.
This is the 11th human flight planned by the new Shepard. Blue Origin has previously flew 52 people into space, including Star Trek William ShatnerAmerican Good Morning hosts Michael Strahan and Bezos.
