Photoshop is the original photo editing app that has changed a lot since it was launched 35 years ago. One of the biggest changes is the development of generative AI. Adobe tilts AI, Photoshop has many new AI-driven tools. However, it is difficult to understand that they fit exactly your workflow and make your work easier and faster. There is no direct answer – it will depend on your project and the comfort of using AI – but here are some tools worth considering.
The average Photoshop user may already be familiar with some of these tools, as they are centered around many taskbars and panels. Some of the most popular tools are generating fills, extensions, and deletion. These AI tools are the easiest way to test Adobe AI capabilities. How to create AI images in Photoshop
Adobe’s AI Image Model Model Firefly is available as a separate application and is embedded in Photoshop so you can use it in the easiest place. If you’ve created it in Photoshop, then it’s a way to access Firefly:
- Open your Photoshop project. If you are using the latest version of PS, the context taskbar should include an option, Generate an image. otherwise:
- Navigate to editand click produce image. You can also click on the icon that looks like an image with arrows and glitter in the toolbar on the left.
- Enter your prompt, specify the style and upload any reference images.
- Click produce.
- Browse for different changes by using arrows in the taskbar below.

If you don’t like these images, you can click on the image popup or icon with four squares to adjust your prompts and reference images. You can also click on the three vertical points at the end of the pin rod to give feedback to generations, delete the background, or generate similar images. How to use Generate Fill, Expand and Delete in Photoshop
You can also use the generated AI tools to edit existing projects in Photoshop. Generating fills, extensions, and deletion are some of the most popular AI tools. This is the method that uses each method.
Generate fill Like a small AI image generator, it is one of the most popular AI tools in Photoshop. With Generate Fill, you can select a specific area of the project, enter text prompts, and create a new design for that area. You can find the generated fill by doing Edit > Generate fill. (Make sure you are using the Select Brush tool.) Mark the area where the element is to appear, enter a prompt and click Generate.
Generative extensions Useful when you need more space in your image. You can create new parts of the image to blend seamlessly with the current image, or you can enter a text prompt and create a new landscape. You can also use it to expand your project. To access the Generative Extensions, select the Crop Tool, pull the canvas onto any size you want, enter a prompt if needed, and click Generate.

Generate delete Like an intrusive eraser eraser. It can isolate and delete certain elements in the project without destroying the entire image. There are two ways to delete objects from your work. First, use the Object Selection tool to select the object, click Generate Fill, and then put the word “Delete” in the prompt. Alternatively, you can manually highlight the object you want to delete using the Delete tool (Spot Healing Tool > Delete Tool).

Other AI tools you can use in Photoshop
Sky change Is a cool AI tool that adds drama to your landscape. You can create alternative sky by navigating to edit > “Sky Change” and select from a variety of options including sunsets, blue skies and some color options marked “Spectacular”. Once you have selected your favorite preset, you can manually adjust the brightness and other elements.

Generate background Ideal for product photography or other lenses where the subject or object is the focus of the image. Upload the shot to Photoshop, click Delete Background (the pin box that pops up when you select a layer), and click Generate Background. Some backgrounds are better than others. The urban spaces I generated look a bit fake, but the backgrounds in color or pattern are great.
