Amazfit BIP 6 has just been launched and is the latest iteration in the BIP smartwatch series. Like its predecessor, the new watch is designed to provide powerful health tracking and fitness features without breaking the bank. After 24 hours testing the BIP 6, I left and thought this $80 smartwatch was a steal.
Chinese company Amazfit is known for its affordable wearable devices compatible with iOS and Android, and stands independently in the software of its watches. BIP 6 does not run wearing an operating system, but has its own operating system ZEPP OS. In my short time, its edges were rough.
As more and more people use smartwatches and fitness trackers to keep fit, the Amazfit Bip 6 measures the size of recording your heart rate, stress, SPO2 and breathing at a low price, universal compatibility with phones, and a TAP measure.
Otherwise, BIP 6 should assign all important categories Find a smartwatch; It measures vitality, tracks every exercise, has a personalized coach, and promises to last a week’s cost. Plus, this is one of the few smartwatch models that use any phone without sacrificing functionality. If you are from a high-end model, e.g. Apple Watch or Samsung Galaxy Watchyou’ll notice some design inconsistencies and the navigation doesn’t seem so smooth or responsive, but if this is your first smartwatch, it will not only fit the bill.
The Amazfit Bip 6’s rectangular screen is similar to the Apple Watch, a rubber belt and two physical buttons you can customize.
Amazfit Bip 6 Design
The Amazfit Bip 6 has a 1.97-inch AMOLED screen (390×450) pixels that look bright and crisp indoors and outside. The rectangular screen with rounded edges is reminiscent of the Apple Watch, minus the curved infinite edges. The display is about the size of the monitor on a larger 44 or 45 mm Apple watch. The aluminum frame looks sleek and while the watch itself will light up, the screen looks bulky on my mid-size wrist and doesn’t have any other sizes. My review unit has black sports bands, but there are also charcoal, stone and red – colors I prefer.
Amazfit Bip 6 battery life
According to Amazfit, BIP 6 can be charged a single fee for two weeks, and if so, it could break the record. While the 340-MAH battery sounds promising, I only wore it for 24 hours, so time can tell. Amazfit’s battery life requires Rish-Wake enabled, as this watch does not allow for always display. Unless you change the settings manually, the screen won’t even continue during exercise – Amazfit warnings can significantly reduce battery life.
Charging speed may be where it loses some of the key points, as previous models have been criticized for their slow charges. For example, BIP 5 took about 2 hours from 0% to 100%. Once it is completely exhausted, I will report it.
It is also worth noting that the watch comes with only a charging puck (no USB-C cable or charging bricks in the box), which has become the standard for most smartwatch models anyway.
Amazfit Bip 6 Health and Wellness Tracking
The first iteration of BIP was struggling with the accuracy of its health and fitness metrics. While I didn’t place the BIP 6 through the usual test, Amazfit says it has better sensors under the hood, which will improve accuracy when measured values such as heart rate variability and blood oxygen. The company also said you can access more details on sleep quality and advanced health insights in the ZEPP app. However, even with the improvements in the sensor, none of these features are FDA approved and should only serve as a baseline rather than a diagnostic tool.
The Amazfit Bip 6 has new sensors under the hood for improved precision in health and fitness tracking.
The watch also has a function called “One Faucet” measurement, which records four vitality forces (heart rate, stress level, SPO2 and breathing rate) in one place. This seems handy, but one of my complaints is that it provides no background except for the final actual reading. Essentially, you want to know if they are normal or
While BIP 6 can’t measure skin temperature like some high-end competitors do, it does include menstrual cycle tracking.
BIP 6 tracks blood oxygen levels (SPO2) as shown in the figure, heart rate and stress levels.
Amazfit Bip 6 Fitness and Sports Features
It has automatic workout detection for seven activities, including walking, running, cycling, oval and boating. You can customize which metrics appear on the screen and set alerts for target speed or heart rate, but since each activity has its own options, navigating the workout settings can be tedious. This includes enabling “Always Display During Workout”, which I activated for the statistic to be visible – Battery Life Cursed.
BIP 6 also has an intelligent strength training feature that automatically tracks representatives, rest time and muscle interactions. There is also an offline navigation option that allows outdoor enthusiasts to download routes to watches without worrying about losing GPS signals. The Bip 6 has 5 AMT waterproofing and is also suitable for swimming and other water-based activities.
Amazfit Bip 6 smartwatch features
The BIP 6 has standard smartwatch features such as call and text notifications, ping my phone and flashlight, but the mobile payment option is missing. Camera remote functionality can be obtained through the ZEPP application, but only for iPhone. The watch has a voice assistant called ZEPP Flow that allows you to control the watch hands-free, but it even makes the Siri look like a speed demon because of the obvious lag in response time.
The screen itself is responsive, but the interface is clumsy and unintuitive. With suspicious design choices, navigating through menus may linger in the maze. The most boring thing in my opinion is billboard animation, used to reveal text that doesn’t fit on the screen. Pressing to reveal the rest of the words will only let you choose the option, so you will wait for the rest of the words to climb onto the screen.
The weird design on the Bip 6 interface selects the vut vut word and crawl back to the screen with animation.
Amazfit Bip 6 Software and ZEPP Applications
The watch runs on Amazfit’s proprietary ZEPP OS and syncs all your health and fitness data through the ZEPP app. You can choose from the ZEPP App Store for additional free or paid hand surface holes and download the app, although there are few choices. According to Amazfit, the app will provide detailed health insights and personalized coaching without paying for some premium subscription. This includes weekly trend reports designed to help clients track progress towards fitness or weight loss goals.
One of the many colorful hand surface options for the Amazfit Bip 6.
Another bonus feature is an AI-powered food diary, which automatically fills calorie and nutrition information from photos or barcodes of meals.
Amazfit Bip 6 has made a good start…
Amazfit Bip 6 still has a lot to explore, but based on first impressions, I would like to say a second date. This is an affordable alternative to a more expensive smartwatch, and if you can go through a few UI typing and some rough edges, it might just be a perfect match.
