If you are a seasoned runner (Giselle) like me, you already have a good chance of knowing which essential running products are suitable for you and what you need to do successfully in your training or competition. As someone who has been over 15 years old, I have products I rely on to get me through running. Also, as a fitness writer, I often test New treadmillrunning gadgets and products, so I wanted to be open to ways to improve the experience.
As for Nasha, she just started her running journey, so if you are in the same place, we also have key gear for beginners.
Here are our favorite running essentials. Whether you’re an experienced runner or just starting out looking for new must-have items, there should be something on this list that suits you.
1. Running belt
If you want to keep your hands free during running, you must use a running belt. If you want to carry the smallest items like keys, phones and debit cards, it’s my favorite belt. It is on the thinner side, with limited space and does not bounce anywhere during the run.
However, if you want to carry more items than keys and phones, I recommend using a running belt like Flipbelt, which can hold more and sit firmly on your waistline without any belt or clips. I love that it blends with your leggings’ belt and it won’t be as heavy as a traditional Fanny backpack.
2. Run socks
A good pair of running socks can make your way of running or ruin your running. You don’t want to wear the wrong materials and overheat, especially in the summer. I’m a big fan of Bombas Half-Calf Socks, among them Hex Tec, which is super breathable and moist. It also has airflow ventilation so your feet stay cool throughout the run.
Bombas offers half-calcium socks in three-piece packaging, but the brand can also buy ankle socks three-pack if it suits your preferences.
3. Sunscreen
Whether in winter or summer, outdoor running requires Skin care protection. I’ve been using SuperGoop! Now playing with the daily lotion SPF 50 for a while now, love how it rubs smoothly on my face and body. It’s not greasy and doesn’t leave white castings like some sunscreens do. It is sweat resistant and I can use it under makeup. If you want to destroy your sweat without worrying about clogging pores or any potential eye stings, this sunscreen is ideal.
4. Headphones or earplugs
I personally prefer Headphones on headphonesWhen I run, because they usually give me safer health. If you are concerned about safety, headphones that will fit the top of the ear and wrap around the back of the head are better than the ear-out option. If you are worried about security, the Bonesoundz Pro Aware Aware Headpones or Shokz OpenRun headphones will be a great option, but you still need music.
If you like wireless Earplug stylePowerBeats Pro 2 earbuds are the way to go. The earbuds have the design of earbuds that keeps them in place no matter how fast you run.
5. AppleWatch or Garmin
If you are a runner who loves to track basic stats for running, a wearable device like the Apple Watch is perfect for you. For beginners and advanced runners, it’s easy to track the metrics they care about. This is the only watch I have been relying on for years, tracking training running, casual running and even racing days
this Apple Watch Series 10 is the latest version, and thanks to Apple’s more advanced health features, such as Blood pressure monitoringwatches will only become more versatile. If you are a highly competitive runner and want a wearable device that suits rhythm or speed running, you can use a better one Garmin pioneer Instead, because it has more features and provides more running data.
6. Strava Applications
Strava apps have always been my favorite Run the tracking application Because it is compatible with the Apple Watch (as well as other wearables), it can also be used to track bicycles and hikes. It’s very easy to follow the data collected during the run and allocate in a way that shows your speed, elevation and distance, and you can even save the run route. You can also follow friends using the app to cheer each other.
I’ve never had a problem with using the free version, but if you want to unlock additional features on Strava, you can sign up for a subscription that is $80 for the year and $12 per month.
7. Running sports shoes
The right running sneakers will be different for everyone, as the proper fit depends on your gait and the shape of your feet. So my favorite running sneakers (New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080) may not be for you.
You should also consider choosing running sneakers if you want to use them for a long distance, or run for speed or do a casual jog here and there. I’ve been running on New Balance sneakers for many years and love the way they do it in training and competitions.
I use running equipment and recommend it for beginners
When I (Nasha) started running, I made a lot of mistakes. I wore the wrong shoes and wore any socks lying around me – I thought I was just “hard”. Spoiler: Actually, I didn’t have a hard time. I got the blisters, roared where I didn’t know I would chafe, and even succumbed to knee pain, which made me question whether running was right for me.
Eventually, I realized that having the right gear would make the run more enjoyable and less painful. If you first started this, I personally use and recommend it. No frills – just something that made a difference to me.
1. A pair of fitted running shoes
Good running shoes are indeed very important. I used to run on any sneakers and my knees hate me for that. Then I installed it in the store. There are other stores with fancy 3D devices that can scan foots to find the right shoes for you. I got CloudSurfer 2 for women (and these shoes are too Can be used for men), I quickly realized how different the right shoes are. These running sneakers have a cushioning distance, but are not too soft, and they support my arch without feeling stiff.
2. Hygroscopic running socks (because the blisters are scattered)
I used to think any sock would do. Until I had a blister under my feet. I learned that cotton socks capture moisture and when paired with friction, it can cause painful blisters. A good pair of wet socks keep your feet dry and comfortable. My favorite socks are the Aspire Quarter crew. These socks fit to prevent friction.
3. Extended hydrated vest
I don’t think I don’t need water while running until I look at my bank account and see the $2 water bottle fee add up. Although you can use Water bottleI prefer to release my hands. This brought me to the idea of wearing a hydrated vest. It makes carrying your water bottle easier. I love Solomon’s active skin 4 running vest. It’s lightweight and won’t make me very hot and even has extra storage pockets.
4. Reflective gears to keep low light safe
If you run early in the morning or at night, being visible to your car and bike is essential for safety. I wear a reflective vest when it’s dark, but you can also consider a headlight. My first choice is Amazon’s $7 reflection vest. Besides being affordable, it is practical and offers two interesting colors, including pink, green, orange and purple.
5. Recovery foam roller
When I started running, the soreness hit me. While stretching will certainly help, Foam roller It has had a big impact on my recovery. After each run I push out the calf and quads and I noticed how much pain would be reduced in a week. I use my foam roller Rhythm coach Never used it since then.
