Freddie Freeman’s wife shares positive update nearly a year after son’s rare diagnosis

Chelsea Freeman, wife Los Angeles Dodgers Star Freddie Freeman said this week that life began to slowly start to “feel more normal” after being diagnosed with a rare neurological condition in the summer.

Max Freeman is only 3 years old Guillain-Barré syndrome.

“This is the hardest and most terrifying day of our lives,” Chelsea wrote in an article at the time. “Maximus is such a special boy who has been fighting hard. It will be a journey of recovery, but we believe he will be completely healed.”

according to Mayo Clinic, Guillain-Barré is a rare disease in which the body’s immune system attacks nerves and causes weakness, numbness or paralysis. There is no known cure, the reason is unknown.

“We have a 9-month-old neurologist checking Max today. He recovered 80% after today’s assessment. He had knee and foot reflexes for the first time. He finally exceeded GBS’ weight.”
