former U.S. Attorney Fox News learned that those found dead over the weekend suffered “long-term medical problems.”
The body of 43-year-old Jessica D. Aber was found Saturday in Alexandria, Virginia. Authorities did not release details about her death, but a family friend told Fox News Sunday that the deceased had a chronic disease.
“Police believe the death is the result of a long-standing medical problem,” the source said.

“According to the agreement, an investigation is being conducted around its deaths,” the APD statement said. “The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia will determine the cause and mode of the death.”
Aber was appointed by former President Joe Biden as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 to 2025. She resigned on January 20, the same day as the president Donald Trump taking office and in her resignation letter called her role “unmeasurable honor.”

“I am very grateful to Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine and to President Biden for the opportunity to lead the position and to take firm leadership to Attorney General Garland,” the attorney wrote. “I am proud of the work we have done with federal, state and local law enforcement partners to enforce the law and build community trust.”
In a statement released on Saturday, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi expressed condolences for Aber’s death.
“The loss of former U.S. Attorney Jessica Aber, former U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, is a deep tragedy,” Bondy wrote. “Our hearts and prayers are coming to her family and friends during this very difficult time.”
