Former Pennsylvania female swimmer and conservative influential Paula Scanlan was never a dedication when she was at her alma mater, but she was joking when the university accidentally asked for donations during the Trump administration $175 million has been suspended in its federal funding.
Scanlon is one of the female Upenn swimmers forced to share the pool and locker room with transgender swimmers Lia Thomas During the 2021-22 season, she told Fox News Digital that she often receives requests from donation centers at the university call center.
By chance, she happened to get one on Wednesday hours after announcing the grant suspension.
“They always call me and they call all the alums… Obviously, I’m not interested in donating. I don’t think I even think it’s an apology in my apology because I was forced to undress in the locker room three times a week.
“But, it’s ironic [Wednesday] It was one of the times when they chose to do this, and with the news, I think it was really interesting. ”
Scanlan added that the last time she received a request for a donation from Upenn was via email in February.
“It’s not new, but I’m sure they urged cash, and it’s definitely what they want to do.”

But Scanlan hopes not only to apologize so that his alma mater has a chance to win donations.
“The University of Pennsylvania has 150 unique things you can major in, and I think we’re looking for a mass department for totally useless degrees. Students are borrowing hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans to professional gender studies and other useless things, and I think we need to see them get rid of them,” Scanlan said.
“This is not unique to the University of Pennsylvania, it’s something I want to see before considering giving, not only donating to my university, but any university in the country.”
Scanlan has been one of Upenn’s most outspoken critics as it decided to dedicate Thomas to the 2021-22 season of the trans athlete woman.
Scanlan, a survivor of sexual assault, provided anonymous insights into news coverage about Thomas’ emotional impact on the team and other teammates. Then in July 2023, Scanlan testified with Riley Gaines to members of the House Judiciary Committee’s Constitutional and Limited Government Subcommittee.

Now, three years after the college swimming season changed her life, she saw the institution that made her experience sentenced huge fines.
Still, it’s not as expensive as she wants to see.
“I think it’s obviously a good thing, and it’s a good message,” Scanlan said. “But that’s only a small difference, and I think they might have anything to do with cutting money, maybe an administrator for a couple, which doesn’t change the overhead of these departments to the type of professors they hire and the ideology they teach.”
“I hope we continue to see people hitting on campuses like this, I hope to see reforms, but that’s just a small part.”
News of the funding suspension prompted some of Scanlan’s former teammates to make more celebratory responses, but they agreed that her beliefs had to be taken further steps. Former UPENN swimmer Grace Estabrook told Fox News Digital that she hopes to see records from Thomas and other trans athletes and get acclaim in the women’s category.
I am glad that the government acknowledges federal violations and takes action, but we still need these agencies to be fully responsible. This means clear policy changes, previous records, rewards and recognition to return to women who deserve it, and institutions that promote sexual harassment and the pain we suffer to make them fully aware of the pain and pain they have caused, they have caused it.
Estabrook is part of a lawsuit with her and Scanlan’s other former Upenn teammates, Margot Kaczorowski and Ellen Holmquist, who tried to get Thomas’s record to grind.
Kaczorowski and Holmquist provided a joint statement to Fox News Digital through the independent Women’s Sports Commission, praising the Trump administration’s funding pause.

“Universities are beginning to see that the cost of publicly harming female students is to cause female students on campus, and we hope that the pressure will only increase. The University of Pennsylvania and other universities within the NCAA have violated federal laws and harmed women,” the statement reads.
“They intentionally stole opportunities and awards from women, putting women at physical risk and promoting sexual harassment of female student-athletes. Every woman should ensure protection of the IX title under university campuses and NCAA regulations.
