Formerly-funny Rep. Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman claim that Democrats initially wanted to pass $100 trillion in spending, part of former President Joe Biden’s destined to be good (BBB) bill.
“We are ten years old [trillion] I believe, then it goes down to three-sixths, down to 1.7,” Bush said on the March 14 “Bowman and Bush” podcast.
The two reflected the collapse of Biden’s ambitious construction better behavior that calls for hundreds of millions of dollars in investments in “social infrastructure” programs such as universal parenting, expanding child tax credits, climate change programs, climate change programs and low-cost housing.
“We wanted to make sure the climate investment was there because many groups said it wasn’t enough in the climate… so I was attacked for not asking for more,” Bush said.

Former Congress members lost the Democratic primary before the 2024 election. They said they insisted on voting for Biden’s infrastructure bill “for months” to make it better with Build Back so it won’t be passed without another person. However, according to these two former reps, federal investment in the BBB Act is constantly “declining, falling.”
The progressives’ efforts ultimately failed in their narrative, with the Democratic-controlled House voted to pass the infrastructure bill separately rather than better pass the building bill without a plan to vote on the latter bill. The House passed Biden’s infrastructure bill in November 2021.
Bush recounts a tense meeting of the House Progressive Caucus, and while they demand a vote on the unmet BBB, Biden calls for pleasing left-handed representatives to pass his infrastructure bill.

“Mr. President, I don’t. If we didn’t have an infrastructure bill, if we didn’t have a better return to vote at the same time, I wouldn’t have voted for it.”
When Biden begs her to “believe in your president” that one day passes “better recovery behavior,” Bush claims she gave the president a fair “no.” The BBB was worth nearly $2 trillion, and was ultimately unable to pass due to opposition from centrists at the time. Joe Manchin, DW.VA.
