“From housing to health care, parenting to college, working families are facing an affordability crisis. The California dream is slipping away. I’m working to fight that dream for the governor, build a stronger, more affordable California for everyone, and take on the bullies that get us in the way,” Becerra said.
“We need a leader who rewards hard work, innovation and endurance again. We need a leader who rolls up his sleeves as a construction worker, an executive and a legislator. I’m that leader, and as governor, I’m going to be ready to build a California, which is a California,” he said.

Prior to Helming HHS, Becerra served as attorney general for the Golden State, and before that, he spent twenty years in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Becerra joins the field of candidates for the current California government. Gavin Newsomcurrently serving in the second term, is currently serving in the second term due to the state’s constitution, “no governor can serve more than 2 terms.”
