“I’m very likely to run for California governor,” Stanfield said.
“I’m meeting with many different people and have a good, strong interest.”

The idea comes after witnessing the damage caused by recent wildfires Pacific Fence Community. He lost his home and property in the fire and has since struggled with reconstruction efforts, citing California’s licensing process as a major obstacle.
“To get a license to do something, you need weeks and months, sometimes even a year to rebuild, do something, put a roof on something,” Stanfield said.
“This is crazy.”
He criticized state and local leaders for handling the crisis.
“You hear the mayor and the governor, they’re laughing at us at Lightspeed, things are on Lightspeed,” he said.
“I said, come on. Come on, take a walk with me.
Fires fueled efforts to restore both Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Basscritics accused them of failing to respond effectively. Newsom will not be re-elected in 2026, and he opposed the recall, calling it a political stunt.

“This time, they’ve hit new lows – exploiting victims of the Los Angeles fire for political gains,” the governor said in his formal response.
Steinfeld, known for his fitness empire, also appeared in Comet America (1988) and expressed a character in Disney’s “ratatouille” (2007). He started in Brooklyn, and he moved to California at the age of 18 to pursue his dreams.
“California is a place where dreams come true,” he said.
“Unfortunately, today, this dream is all literally and vividly.”
If he runs, he will do so as a Republican, thinking that California has lost its way.

“It has to stop,” he said.
“Because of California’s dream, what California is, what it is today, it doesn’t exist.”
