Officials said a person was seriously injured and a house partially collapsed after the explosion shocked a Pacoima community on Thursday morning.
According to a Los Angeles Fire Department alarm, the explosion was reportedly at 9:01 a.m. on the 13500 block of W. Remington Street, firefighters arrived and found light smoke from the damaged home.
According to the alarm, the explosion was initially believed to have been caused by fireworks.
A man described as a male in his 40s, was taken to a nearby hospital with burns and in critical condition. LAFD spokesman Lindsey Lantz said residents told firefighters that he was the only person inside when the explosion was launched.
Relatives of injured residents told officials that officials were also believed to have been at home when the explosion was in the alarm.
Lands said two of the dogs were safely removed from their homes as of 10:30 a.m., and one-third were found safe in the building. Fire officials are waiting for the building and security officers to arrive at the site before demolishing the third dog and inspecting the structure. The situation of the fourth dog is unknown.
Officials from the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Hazmat department, arson department and Los Angeles Police Bomb Squad also responded to the house.
According to the LAFD, city construction and security officials are also required to inspect the structure.
