Female boxer who quit Olympic match against Imane Khelif reveals alleged online abuse

Italian female boxer Angela Carini claims she suffered online abuse after the failure of the infamous Algeria Imane Khelif At the Paris Olympics last summer.

Carini resigned from her Olympic Games Just 46 seconds against Khelif as the Algerian punched Carini shocked audiences around the world. Khelif, who had not previously failed to perform a sexual qualification test for another international match, continued to win the gold medal.

The incident has sparked global backlash from advocates of the campaign to protect women, especially after Carini quit the competition and cried to reporters, she was distressed by Khelif’s fist.

On Thursday, Karini published Videos on Instagram Screenshots of the abuse message she received on social media – some begged her not to go to the Olympics again, others called her “coward” and “shamed of the Italian team”, while the 26-year-old explained how she felt.

“Have you ever thought about how hard it is to face these words? What do I have to endure? What do I have to endure? What do I have to face in silence while preserving my health from a stupid social network, from a stupid social network, people who speak and speak without thinking twice?” Karini said. “Because it’s just a sentence for them, it’s just a word, it’s fun, it’s just trying to follow the crowd.”

Carini’s decision to withdraw from the battle has fueled discussions about Paris, far beyond what Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni should be in the match when they speak out.

She said the incident had “destroyed” her career.

“For many people, it’s easy to forget the past, but not for me,” Carini said in the video. “The past marks my life. The wounds of the past make me try to heal day after day, but like infected wounds, they can bleed and hurt.

“The past has changed and ruined my career, building sacrifice, dedication, tenacity and passion year after year. … Professions that are underestimated and devalued by those who are willing to laugh for a moment would rather throw stones.”

International Boxing Association (IBA) president Umar Kremlev asked Khelif for Olympic gold medal deprivation in July to achieve “transparency and openness”. Khelif was previously disqualified for failing to pass the gender qualification test. Kremlev claimed that unpublished DNA test results at the time indicated that Khelif had XY chromosomes.

World Boxing, the international governing body of the international boxing sport, has announced a new policy that will introduce mandatory sexual tests to ensure that only women participate in the women category. Khelif appealed the new policy that would allow athletes to exclude any genetic test results.
