FCC Chairman Brendan Carr threatened ABC and Disney on Thursday, suggesting he will take action on comments made by late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel About the so-called Charlie Kirk Assassin.
Kimmel accused conservatives of hitting a “new low” in trying to fix the left-wing ideology on Monday, despite prosecutors reiterating the links in Tuesday’s indictment.

Appearing on Wednesday’s “Benny Show,” Carl called Kimmel’s comments “some of the most disgusting behaviors” and suggested there are potential “pathways” FCC pursuit.
“In some ways, there is a very concerted effort to lie to Americans about one of the nature of one of the most important public interest acts of news value in a long time, and it seems to be a narrative played by Jimmy Kimmel in the action of Jimmy Kimmel, a kind of Maga or a Republican motive,” Carr’s Republican. ”
“From the moment I have become the chairman of the FCC, it has been clear that I want to rekindle the public’s interest. “Look, we can do it in an easy way or a tough way. These companies can find ways to change behavior, act frankly, act against Kimmel, or, you know, there will be other work in the FCC.”

Carl noted that Kimmel’s apology would be “very reasonable, minimal step” but also floated the network “suspension” as a potential remedy. He also called on licensed broadcasters, especially those that Disney itself does not own, to “push backward” the mouse and threaten to preempt its content if it doesn’t take action.
“The public interest means you can’t run a narrow partisan circus and still fulfill your public interest obligations,” he said. “It means you can’t engage in a journalistic distortion pattern.”
Although Carr avoided accusing Kimmel of having the potential for a legal battle, he did say that the Liberal host could be said to have “intentionally worked to mislead the American people.”
“It’s a very, very serious problem for Disney,” Carl added.
