A man suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend and daughter Drive in Compton Shoot Authorities said it was running away and was considered armed and dangerous.
According to a department press release, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is looking for Donte Lamont Brown, 41, a Compton resident, who allegedly killed his estranged girlfriend, La’von Hall and her 22-year-old daughter, Ma’laysia Martin.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to calls about a shooting at the intersection of Caldwell Street and Central Avenue at 7 p.m. Tuesday and found Hall, 45, lying on the ground near the nearby gunshot wounds. Her daughter was found in the passenger seat of a nearby car and also bleeding from the gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s department.
Representatives and Compton Fire Department personnel tried to provide life-saving assistance, but both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators later learned that Brown drove to the victim’s car when it stopped at a light on Caldwell Street and released many gunfires that hit the mother and daughter, according to the sheriff’s department.
Hall left the driver’s side and fell to the ground, suffering fatal injuries. The car then continued to move forward with Martin, injured, in the passenger seat. It collided with a signal pole in the southeast corner of the intersection, which was found to be unresponsive, according to the sheriff’s department.
Sheriff’s officials said Brown fled the south of Central Avenue and his whereabouts remain unknown.
The department said detectives exhausted all potential clients in the search for Brown and were seeking public assistance to find him. He was known to have frequent visits to Compton and Long Beach areas and was considered armed.
