According to a new report, the Los Angeles Police Department’s specialized department no longer provides former Vice President Kamala Harris Security.
Officer and Metropolitan Branch of LAPDAccording to the New York Times, President Donald Trump, who belonged to the police department’s special operations team, intervened in Harris after he tugged on Harris’ security details in August.
But that protection ended Saturday after opposition from the LAPD Coalition, the Los Angeles Police Protection Coalition. The union called the arrangement a “nut” and argued that “taxpayers should not pay bills for such a ridiculous bill.”
“We are pleased to report that subway officials assigned to presidential candidates who protect millionaires return to street crime,” the union board said in a statement to Fox News on Monday.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said that using LAPD resources to provide protection for Harris is by no means a permanent solution.
“The program is always a temporary support, and I thank LAPD for protecting former vice president Harris and always prioritizes the security of all Angelenos,” Bass said in a statement from the New York Times.
Bass’ office did not respond to multiple requests for comment from Fox News Digital.

According to the New York Times, Bass previously said in a statement Wednesday that Trump’s decision to revoke Harris’ security details is equivalent to “acts of revenge” against his political opponents and put Harris “at danger.”
LAPD did not respond to multiple comment requests from Fox News Digital.
The Los Angeles Times also reported that the California Highway Patrol provides security for Harris, according to law enforcement sources. According to the publication, California Governor Gavin Newsom must approve the protection.
“Our office has no comment on security arrangements,” Newsom spokesman Izzy Gardon said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Thursday.

White House confirms to Fox News Digital Trump pulls Harris’s safety details On August 29, it was noted that the vice president usually provides secret service protection only within six months of leaving the office.
But former President Joe Biden signed an order that extended Harris’ Secret Service Reserve for one year before leaving the office.
CNN first reported that Trump signed a memorandum to pull Harris’ Secret Service security details. A Harris spokesman told Fox News Digital that there is no reason to eliminate protection.

The Secret Service did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
The Wall Street Journal reported in July that Harris’s husband Doug Emhoff revoked his security details in July.
According to the Secret Service website, the former president and his spouse receive Secret Service security details for the rest of their lives unless they voluntarily withdraw.
