Eero launches its Wi-Fi 7 mesh routers

Eero today announced the version of the same name mesh router equipped with Wi-Fi 7 Eero 7 and Eero 7 Pro. Compared to existing fares, the Amazon-owned company is improving speed improvements promised by Wi-Fi 7.

The emergence of both products is not surprising, as Eero launched the two products last year Maximum 7 and Outdoor 7. The Max 7 is the company’s flagship standalone router/repeater duo equipped with wear-resistant Ethernet ports, which are designed to push the internet to a distance of up to 15,000 square feet.

First, the Eero 7 is a dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) system that promises a maximum wireless maximum speed of 1.8 Gbps through its 2.5 GB Ethernet port, up to 2.3 Gbps. All of this is stuffed into the same small package of Eero’s mesh unit, which is easy to fit into your home decor.

Naturally, the Eero 7 Pro is the more compelling of the two, as it will take advantage of all three bands of Wi-Fi 7 (2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz). The company promises a theoretical maximum wireless speed of 3.9 Gbpps and, when connected to one of its two 5 GB Ethernet ports, you get 4.7 Gbps when connected.

The previous Eero Pro units were on the same chassis as their vanilla siblings, but the 7 Pro’s maximum is in the size of the 7. Eero says the larger, cylinder’s “passive heat” design provides quieter operation and is less risky. Compared with the predecessors, the dust has settled.

The Eero 7 and 7 Pro promise 2,000 square feet per node and will be sold in single, two or three packs at retail. However, the company does remind users that you can bind other nodes based on your needs and the size of your house.

An important part of Eero is to make sure that setting up grids in your home is as easy and stress-free as possible. This keeps a suite of software technology running smoothly, allowing your data to always route data to the most efficient nodes. Users who pay for Eero Plus will also get additional online security features and parent controls, as well as access to 1Password, Malwarebytes, and Guardian VPN. If using matterthread or Zigbee and will get the usual Amazon and Alexa integration.

If you are familiar Our Mesh Wi-Fi Buyer Guideyou’ll know that Wi-Fi 7 is less exciting than Wi-Fi 6e. Current standards offer a stronger experience, leveraging the 6GHz band to reduce the amount of wireless chaos on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Wi-Fi 7’s title feature is the ability to combine these frequency bands to greatly increase maximum speeds and more connectivity. It would be great if you desperately need to push 8K movies from one device to another in seconds.

The Wi-Fi 7 Gear is still very expensive so far, although the fact that Eero joins Fray shows that prices will start to fall in the near future. Of course, Eero can boast about the cheapest Wi-Fi 7 gear it sells on the U.S. market, with the Eero 7 priced at $170, $280 (two packs) or $350 (three pieces). On the other hand, these 7 Pros will get you back $300, 550 (two packs) or $700 (three packs), which still makes it one of the cheapest Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 products on the market. Both products are available for pre-order today and are first delivered on February 26.
