Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Putting his fear aside, playing a very different role from the action-packed one he is famous for.

Johnson became MMA fighter aircraft Mark Kerr participates in sports drama, “The Crusher.” In an interview Vanity Fair, Johnson explained that this was a character that had left him nervous for years.

“It’s very real. I haven’t experienced it in very, very long time, I’m really scared and thinking, I don’t know if I can do that. Can I do it?

“I realized that these opportunities didn’t come because I was too scared to explore these things,” he told The Outlet.

To play the role correctly, Johnson had to plaster with 13 to 14 prosthetics every day and would only “disappear” as he walked.

“I just sat in front of the mirror for three to four hours and watched it change. There were about 13 or 14 different prosthetics.”

He said: “I just sat in front of the mirror for three to four hours and watched everything change. There were about 13 or 14 different prosthetics. Subtle, but I think it was very influential. By the time I was going to set it up, I was Mark Kerr, and I felt that from the way he walked to the way he spoke and how he lived.”

Johnson saw Kerr’s story in the 2002 documentary “The Crusher”. In the doctor, he sees Kerr fighting his painkiller addiction, who encounters close-up at the actor’s home.

“I lost a lot of my friends’ addiction and suicide – in the late 90s, early 2000s, there were a lot of out-of-time, very early deaths,” Johnson recalled.

“The contradiction that Mark contradicts in the most beautiful way is, and still is. Spoken, sweet, kind, but at one time the deadliest person on earth.”

After watching the documentary, he immediately respected Kerr’s escape from the darkness and hoped to play him on the screen one day.

Fast forward twenty years; Johnson gets the chance of Benny and Josh Safdie. Johnson’s “Jungle Parade” co-star Emily Blunt, The movie is also the star of Kerr’s then-girl girlfriend Dawn Staples.

The volatility relationship between Dawn and Mark will be the focus of the film. The couple’s final battle took place in their home, with Safdie making sure the camera was hidden in the movie set.

“You don’t see the camera – you don’t see the lights, the settings, nothing,” Johnson told The Outlet.

To put it bluntly, “A lot of times it’s like ‘high school’ in the kitchen, it’s incredible transport and rattle because there’s no technology around you that can help you flicker and flicker from what you’re portraying this pain.

Blunt was able to see Dawn and Mark’s relationship from another perspective because she was able to work closely with the couple during the filming process.

“How outbreak, this relationship is a huge need between each other, and it’s a point of interdependence,” Blunt said. “Being a warrior is an omnipresent existence and you need everyone in your life to be consistent with it. I just don’t think Dawn is the kind of person who is just consistent.”

She continued: “In fact, I’ve never played with someone who is still with us. I’m so grateful to her…. I just need to be her supporter.”

Johnson praised his close friendship with Blunt for their screen chemistry.

“If Emily and I were not the best friends, I didn’t know where we could go. Intimate trust creates trust, and then allows vulnerability, and then allows allowed [us to] Go anywhere. ” he said.

Blunt responded to similar remarks from her co-star and told Vanity Fair: “It seemed like a relaxing immersion – like a total disappearance, weird. He’s been elsewhere since day one.”

She added: “He has absorbed and witnessed so much of what Mark has gone through, that watching this person let go of a person has to be an image, has to be a rock, and half of the character is a beautiful thing.”

Johnson is happy to play different roles than once, such as “Jumanji” and “Red One”.

“I’ve been doing movies over the years and it’s become so dazzling to me. It’s almost like a song from George Strait called ‘Where’s my whole life?’ It reminds me of where I’ve been?

“What I’m worried about is actually giving me the greatest peace thing – a safe place to explore all of these things I’ve experienced over the years. I have a place to say,” he said.

“Shredder” premiered on Labor Day weekend Venice Film Festival It will be released in theaters on October 3.
