US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy warned Friday That Chicago Unless local leaders quickly take steps to improve the security of their transportation systems, Boston is at risk of losing federal support.

In a formal letter to CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen and MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng, Duffy commanded two institutions Submit a written report within 14 days detailing the steps taken to curb crime, stop fares and improve cleanliness.

The letters are the latest letters Duffy has pushed transport agencies to curb fares and improve safety. Earlier this year, he issued similar warnings to the bus systems in Washington, New York and Los Angeles, as stated in the press release.

Last month, the case sparked national anger when the Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, 23, was fatally attacked on a North Carolina light rail train.
The CTA and MBTA did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
