Bad fate New York City A travel helicopter crashing into the Hudson River Thursday hit the Hudson River, a videotape now touting what the company calls safety records.
The machete was a 206L-4 longranger IV, split between mid-middle Thursday afternoon and poured into water near the coastline of Jersey City, New Jersey, killing a Spanish family of five and killing the aircraft’s Navy Seal Veteran pilot.
Witness video shows that the helicopter’s main and tail rotors are separated from the plane’s body and can be splashed into the water separately. The exact cause of the crash has not been determined.

The helicopter’s registration number N216MH is operated by a New York helicopter, and the company’s website still has a video about a doomed helicopter inspected before takeoff.
The video is embedded in the company’s homepage, titled “Why Choose Us” and promotes the company’s experience, affordability and Safety recordsamong other reasons.
The website notes next to the video: “We have an industry-leading security record.”
The silent video shows a worker walking towards a black and white chopper with its main rotor blade tied to Dolly.
He then took the rope apart from Dolly and walked on the plane, pulling the main rotor on the rope.
Next, the worker climbed onto the side of the chopper, checked the aircraft’s engine and drive shaft, and then jumped into the cockpit, where he did more inspections and took off before starting the engine.

The Bell 206 was built in 2024 and has recorded 12,728 hours of flight time when it was forced to undergo repairs in September New York Post Report, citing FAA data.
In April 2023, the FAA released two safety A for the All Bell 206L model helicopter.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it has identified the risk of failure of tail rotary drive (TRD) due to failure of bond joints in segmented drive shafts. The FAA recommends replacing any faulty tail rotor drives with compliant, serviceable parts and prohibits installation of non-compliant TRDS parts.

In a shocking video of Thursday’s crash, it seems the tail rotor is disengaged in front of the main rotor.
Michael Roth, CEO of New York Helicopter Journey, told The New York Post that he has not seen anything like this in his 30 years in the helicopter business.
“The only thing I can guess is that I don’t know it either had a bird strike or a main rotor blade fail. I don’t know. I don’t know.” Ross added, “It’s horrible.” “But you have to remember something, these are machines, they break.”
The company issued a statement saying it was “very saddened by the tragic accident and death”.

The family of five who died in the tragedy include Siemens executive Agustin Escobar, his wife Mercè Camprubí Montal, a global manager of an energy technology company and three children. The pilot was also killed. (New York Helicopter Travel Co., Ltd.)
“The safety and well-being of our passengers and staff has been the cornerstone of our operations during the New York helicopter tour,” the statement reads on the company’s website. “Our direct focus is to support families and loved ones affected by this tragedy, as well as fully working with the FAA and NTSB investigations.”
This is not the first time Ross has operated a mechanical problem with the helicopter operation.
In 2015, another bell 206, which the company operated, was forced to make a tough landing while hovering 20 feet after taking off in northern New Jersey. According to NTSB, in that incident, the chopper experienced a tail rotor drive shaft failure due to a reuse failure.
The section was drawn by the previous owner, so it is impossible to determine whether it was part of the helicopter during an earlier difficult landing The New York Times Report.

Two years ago, the company-run Bell 206 lost power and landed on the water while carrying four Swedish tourists. The pilot deployed the plane’s pontoon bridge and landed safely on the river.
Thursday’s tragedy prompted Rep. Nicole Malliotakis Or stop completely.
The crash occurred after the fatal incident in 2018 when a travel helicopter tragically hit the East River, killing five passengers. The flight was operated by Free Helicopter for Flynyon.
