Dolby’s vision has always been One of the industry standards of HDR It’s been on TV for more than a decade. exist IFA 2025Dolby Laboratories introduces Dolby Vision 2, which is “the pioneering development of its industry-leading picture quality innovation.” The second iteration has been updated to meet the capabilities of today’s television technology and the ever-expanding artist tools. Dolby Vision 2 includes a more powerful image engine that improves your TV and the ability to “beyond HDR”.
The foundation of Dolby Vision 2 is called content intelligence. Dolby says these tools provide a better “bridge” for creative professionals and living rooms by using AI to automatically adapt your TV to your viewing content and viewing location. Content intelligence includes tools like Precision Black to help keep darker scenes visible and light-sensing, detecting ambient light to create the best picture. There are also sports and game optimizations that can meet the specific needs of live sports and gameplay and upgrade to white point adjustments and motion controls.
Dolby explains that the two-way tone mapping will allow advanced TVs to “provide higher brightness, clearer contrast and deep saturated colors” while maintaining artist intentions. “Beyond HDR” drives features including real movement. The tool is what Dolby calls “the world’s first creatively driven motion control tool to make the scene more realistic.”
When the living room is ready, the Dolby Vision 2 will be available in two ways. First, the Dolby Vision 2 Max will use premium TVs to leverage all of its processing power to deliver unique quality features. The regular Dolby Vision 2 is found on mainstream TVs, with its capabilities running on new image engines and content intelligence.
When new standards like this are introduced, sometimes it takes them a while to really become something you can buy. Dolby said HESENSE will be the first to bring the Dolby Vision 2 to the market, supporting its “premium” TVs, including RGB blurb models. More importantly, the French streaming service Canal+ is still on board, aiming to leverage new technologies for films, television shows and live sports.
