A group of technicians announced their resignation and the turmoil within the U.S. government continued. These federal employees initially worked for American digital services companies in a technology-centric department created under the Obama administration. Earlier this year, the team led by Elon Musk fired about 40 people from the original digital service staff, with the remaining 65 employees being included in his department. Today, 21 of them resigned.
“We will not compromise core government systems with our skills as technicians, endanger sensitive data from Americans or remove critical public services,” a former employee wrote in his resignation letter. . “We do not borrow our expertise to execute or legitimize Doge’s actions.”
Digital Services Director Anne Marshall also resigned from her position last week In a public letter, “This is not the task I am going to take on.”
Both Marshall and the participants in today’s group resignation have raised concerns that people in Musk’s clothing have no knowledge or desire to continue the mission of digital services to develop and sustain digital resources for Americans.
