Undord announced Monday its Discord Social SDK, a free toolkit that allows developers to leverage the platform’s social infrastructure to enhance the social and multiplayer experience of their games. The toolkit enables developers to improve their gaming experience, regardless of whether the player has a discord account.
Social integration includes a unified friend list that allows players to access their Discord Friends and their friends in the game on Discord, making it easier to connect during games and out. Additionally, the SDK provides deep-connected game invitations, allowing players to invite their friends to join their parties or halls directly.
Communication features include cross-platform messaging to allow players to continue conversations on desktops, consoles, and mobile devices. Other features include the ability to link in-game chats to specific discord channels in the server and voice chat.

“For game creators from independent to AAA, Discord is where you can connect with the world’s most dedicated player community to drive game growth before, during and after release,” Discord co-founder and CTO STAN VISHNEVSKIY said in a press release. “Game discovery and retention have never been more critical and we are excited to help developers grow their games by attracting gamers.”
Discord said the kit has been used by many developers, including theoretical games, Facepunch Studios, 1047 Games, Spopely, Mainflame Industries, Elodie Games, Elodie Games, Tencent Games, and more.
Discord Social SDK is compatible with C++, Unreal Engine, and Unity, and supports Windows 11+ and MacOS. The company said support for consoles and mobile devices is coming soon.
The platform has over 200 million active users who only spend more than 1.5 billion hours per month playing games on their PC.
