For my father, this is highly praised. This is the kind of meal he grew up in Nebraska as a kid: hearty, unconscious, balanced, always green, always a piece of meat. I visited for a week while my mother spent time with my grandchildren and I cooked his dinner with dinner, which was really great, Chef’s cousin Marley Spoon Meal Set Also recognized by Stewart (and also received by me: 8/10, recommended online). The biggest surprise for him was how much some of them intersected with old-fashioned American home scratch cooking.
The “Greek Lemon Orange Chicken” we are eating does involve some citrus, but the character is not as savory as the brown chicken broth in the chicken. To anyone on the table, oregano has little exoticism. Heck, they might even eat this chicken in Nebraska. The potatoes are yukon gold, which I want to cut, cook, butter, gilded and mashed by hand. The beans are fresh and simple.

Like my cousin’s more expensive cousin, the chicken breast for dinner looks much better than I expected in a midsize supermarket: plump, pink, and prune well for any non-renderable fat. These parts are big enough that each of us wonders if we will finish, but still finish.

These seams can show some on some recipes, especially in terms of obvious shortcuts in recipe development. But the real key to lower cost of dinner shows simplicity.
Simple as simple
It’s hard not to compare dinner with a Marley spoon. After all, both cutlery kits come from the same company but are built in Germany but are decorated with Martha Stewart’s branding and cooking skills.
Both arrive the same way, in one box, all recipes are chaotic: fresh produce and unrefrigerated food in a small box on top, meat and dairy and other more sensitive perishable boxes at the bottom of the box’s cool packaging. Suppose basic staples like flour, butter, sugar and oil are in your pantry: they are not in the box.
