Details reportedly emerge in tragic death of ex-Yankees star’s son

Gardner and his family announced Miller’s death in a statement Sunday.

“We are sad with a heavy heart to announce the death of our youngest son, Miller. He is 14 years old and has left us after he fell ill with several other family members on vacation,” their statement read. “We have many questions at the moment, and few answers, but we do know that he passed away peacefully during his sleep on Friday, March 21.

“Miller is a beloved son and brother, and without his smile we still can’t understand our lives. He loves football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, his family and his friends. He lives a fulfilling life every day.”

The Yankees also issued a statement about Miller’s death.

Gardner was a Yankees outfielder for 14 seasons and they joined the team when they won the last one World Contest 2009 title; he spent his entire career with the Bronx, playing football for the last time in 2021.
