Deshaun Watson posts cryptic message after Browns owner’s comments

Deshaun WatsonObviously an antenna.

Earlier this week Cleveland Brown Co-owner Jimmy Haslam almost all regretted the acquisition of Watson and then signed him to a $230 million contract.

“We had a big swing with Deshaun and missed it. We didn’t think we didn’t have a quarterback. We didn’t, we gave up a lot of draft picks to get him. So we had to dig out of that hole,” he told the annual league meeting in Palm Beach, Florida. “Listen, I’ve said a lot of times, Deshaun Watson was a decision for the whole organization and it ended with (co-owner) Dee (Haslam), so I’m responsible for us.”

Well, shortly after those demanding comments, Watson took to Instagram to show off his work he’s been doing in Achilles’ recovery.

In social media posts, Watson shared 20 photos of his recovery, mainly in the gym, barefoots in the Browns’ facilities.

“Maybe, if I hadn’t built it for this, I would have made it phase,” Watson wrote.

Watson was suspended and started working in Cleveland, only playing six games in 2022. Next season, he was hit six games again. He then played only seven games in 2024 after suffering from Achilles rupture in his family game. He broke Achilles again earlier this year.

In his final season with the Texans in 2020, he led the NFL with passing yards. But since then, he hasn’t thrown 1,200 in any season. He has no competition in 2021.

Former NFL kicker “seriously considers” Congress holds: Report

The Browns have re-employed Watson’s contract twice since December, adding the Void year to 2030 to give them some financial flexibility to spread the change over the contract instead of taking a big blow in a season. Watson was named a free agent after the 2026 season.

All signs suggest Cam Ward is going to get to the Tennessee Titans first, but the Shedeur Sanders will likely offer Browns with the second pick. But, given that Abdul Carter and Travis Hunter may also appear on the board, they simply did not show up.

“I think the message is that if the right person is there, we will take him.” Haslam said recently. “If not, we’ll figure it out for a year or two until we get the right people. There are good football players in this draft and we have to make sure we’re the right footballers.”

Fox News’s Ryan Gaydos and the Associated Press contributed to the report.
