Freelance candidate wins seats after winning high-profile elections on Tuesday Wisconsin Supreme Courtprotect liberals on the bench.
Dane County Circuit Judge Susan Crawford defeated the conservatively tilted Brad Schimel, who currently serves as a state circuit judge in Vauxa County. Schimer was endorsed by President Donald Trump, who spent millions of dollars against Crawford’s candidacy.
After investing a lot of money from a unanimous group of Democrats and Republicans outside Wisconsin, it turned race into the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history, which partially transformed into Trump’s action in the early months of his second term in the White House.
Following Crawford’s victory, Democrats said voters in the battlefield state of Wisconsin sent a clear message to the rejection of Trump, Musk and the Department of Efficiency (led by Musk) and the Republican agenda.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers wrote: “Wisconsin proves that we will not be bought by the richest or most powerful person or anyone else in the world.”
Musk distributed $1 million checks to two Wisconsin voters at a rally in Green Bay on Sunday night, who have voted in the game and signed a petition to stop “activists.” The Democratic state attorney general of Wisconsin filed a lawsuit to block payments, but the state Supreme Court refused to weigh the trade-offs.
“This election is about the resilience of Wisconsin and American values that define and unite us,” the governor of Wisconsin said in a statement. “This election is about doing the best for our children, protecting constitutional checks and balances, reaffirming our faith in the courts and the judiciary, and defending attacks on fundamental rights, freedoms and institutions that we cherish.”
He added: “For anyone who mistakenly believes in Washington’s actions and decisions, who have not seen or spoken in Wisconsin or in our states, the people of Wisconsin responded tonight.”

Baldwin said on X: “Judge Crawford is a common sense judge who has been guided by her basic values of growing up in Chippewa Falls.

“Voters in Wisconsin sent a decisive message to Donald Trump’s Elon Musk tonight and conveyed the morality by rejecting the Supreme Court’s extreme Republicans: Our democracy is not for sale,” he said in a statement. “Democrats are fighting to maintain our country.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Crawford’s victory was “an astonishing victory for Wisconsin and the entire country.”
