There are almost no certainty in politics, but if Glenn Youngkin He was the first governor of any state outside Virginia and he might just be one.

Youngkin received high approval rates for state Republicans in Joe Biden in 2024. But, due to the quirks in its 1776 Constitution, the old rule was the only state in which the governor could not serve two consecutive terms. So instead of getting re-elected Youngkin, Virginia voters faced the choice in November Governor Lieutenant Wins Earl Sell and former Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger.

There is no way to sugar-coated is a real disadvantage for the Republicans. If Youngkin is allowed to run, Spanberger will compete. Now she is a favorite to win.

Youngkin’s approval rate has been over 50% for almost the entire time in Richmond, which is by no means a mean feat, with Kamala Harris defeating Kamala Harris defeating Donald Trump last year.

The question is whether there is any way for Republicans to take advantage of strong responsibilities and move them from Youngkin to Earle-Sears. Although it seems unconventional, the answer should be, yes.

Youngkin’s achievements in four years are impressive. He offered $4 billion in tax cuts. In 2024, CNBC named Virginia the country’s “highest commercial state”. His overhaul of the education system raised the standard for students.

If Virginia Law isn’t that weird, that’s how Youngkin runs, but why can’t Earle’s record run on this record either? After all, she was always by his side. In fact, why can’t they run together?

Earle-Sears found himself in almost the exact opposite position from Kamala Harris a year ago, replacing the top dog on the ticket. In Harris’ case, it’s because Joe Biden is not suitable for taking, and in Youngkin’ case, it’s because some people made a decision in powdered wigs 250 years ago.

But while Harris is destined to distinguish himself from the extremely unpopular and clumsy biden, Earle-Sears has no reason to distance himself from Youngkin. Instead, she should celebrate their joint achievements.

We should see Youngkin and Earle-sears Hip on rally and TV commercials, he defended his successful single semester and she is expected to continue and expand it.

This arrangement, if not a common challenge, is at least a check-in, can not only help Earle-Sears, but also help Youngkin realize its potential future political ambitions. Don’t forget that in the days before the Republican National Convention, he was the serious dark horse of the vice president.

In Milwaukee, in RNC, you’ll see Youngkin’s political fragments at work. People would flock to him, partly because he was about 8 feet tall and was easily recognized, and also because they were like that guy.

None of these are knocks on Earle-Sears, she has a lot to recommend her for her good points, but leaving Youngkin, who brings everything to the table, is political malfeasance.

So far, Earle-Sears’ movement seems to have focused on cultural war issues, especially in Northern Virginia counties, violating the Trump administration’s rules on transgender policies such as women’s movement and boys in the bathroom.

This is an important and powerful question, but it is not enough in itself.

On the other hand, the economy is not a sexy issue, but it does win elections. Earle-Sears is in a unique position to say not only can she bring a strong national economy, but she has become part of the team that fulfills that promise.

When debating the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, some hope that Andrew Jackson wanted something a century ago: a six-year term in office, which would remove the burden (and temptation) of running for reelection.

Back in 1951, Congress landed with two four-year terms. But no one seriously proposes a four-year period, as it is not enough to browse the main projects and efforts. Not suitable for the United States, nor for any country.

The governor of Virginia is more important than any other political office in the United States. Youngkin is a short-term caregiver, but what matters most to his legacy is who will get the next key.
