When they initially started cutting to save this trip, they were shocked by the money they spent at home: an average of £4,000 to £5,000 (about $4,600-$5,800) a month.

These figures are far from the current cost of living and rent, and the couple is estimated to be about 50% less.

Hayley worked in IT recruitment until he resigned during the travel year, telling Jam Press: “We both spent many years climbing the ladder, playing leadership roles, spending time on boards and endless meetings – but we realized we realized we live on two holidays every year.”
“We want more time together, more adventure and more freedom.”
Haley calls it the best decision they have ever made, and he says it is not without its challenges.

When the couple withdrew their daughter, Hayley said she found the process very simple, Nyla’s school was very supportive.
Since then, their daughters have begun online tutoring, aligned with the UK courses and have temporarily attended a multicultural school in Bali to continue their education.
The family started their trip Disneyland Pariscelebrate Nira’s birthday and then spend four weeks traveling in Italy.

“Six-year-old Nira still wants to spend every second with us and we know that won’t last forever,” Haley said.
From there they flew to Bali and they will stay and continue to explore until November.
“We’ve been seeing certain places and outlining historical landmarks, and experiencing the world through our little girl’s eyes makes it even more magical,” she said.
