Karissa Rund of Westminster said on her website that she was 11 years old when her mother died of breast cancer, and she survived the 14-year-old Columbine High School shooting.
She added: “When I was 20 years old, I became a war widow when my husband and high school lover were killed in operation in Iraq.”
According to media reports, Lund was subsequently engaged to Doug Rund, the brother of her late husband Greg Rund, who died in Fallujah in a small arms fire.
Lund said she was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer at the age of 31.
“I’ve endured nine surgeries, immeasurable pain and pain and two years of chemotherapy…that part of my journey has not been completed yet,” she wrote on the website.
