temporary Columbia University President Katrina Armstrong resigned in a clash with the Trump administration on federal funding.
“Dr. Armstrong accepted the role of interim president during college and worked tirelessly to promote the interests of our community,” said the chairman of the board of directors David J. Greenwald in a press release late Friday. “Hurricane Katrina has always dedicated her heart to Columbia. We appreciate her service and look forward to her continued contribution to the university.”
Fox News also confirmed that board co-chair Claire Shipman was appointed acting president until the board completes the presidential search. Shipman has been on the board since 2013.

Fox News learned that Armstrong is expected to return to the university’s Irving Medical Center. Armstrong reportedly has good relations with the Ministry of Education.
The Trump administration recently received federal funding from Columbia University and put significant pressure on Armstrong to make changes on campus.
