Colorado Springs springs into action amid loss of Space Command

Officials come in Colorado Springs Arriving in Washington this week to push for a larger share of the defense industry to offset losses from the U.S. Space Command, President trump card Moving near Huntsville, Alabama.

Colorado Springs mayor Yemi Mobolade Tell the Washington Times that his city hopes remain a player in the space defense department.

“We are also lobbying for future opportunities such as the Golden Dome and other assets that are suitable for our ecosystem,” Moboladesaid an independent person. “Our cities exist to help serve the interests of the nation’s defense…we will lobby for other assets in favor of Colorado and the nation.”

The golden dome is a Trump administration said it will fight back attacks against the United States, but is much larger than the Iron Dome of Israel.

The Golden Dome project will be led by Space Command, meaning many of the hundreds of dollars allocated to the project will be pointed to Huntsville.

But Andy Merritt, who runs a defensive-centric business park, called Catalyst Campus, said Golden Dome should create considerable opportunities and cash flow for Colorado Springs.

The U.S. Northern Command is responsible for homeland defense and is designated as the future operator of the Golden Dome, and the North American Aerospace Defense Command is in Colorado Springs. Defense contractors expected to participate in the project have locations near the city, and the U.S. Air Force Academy is also located in El Paso County, Colorado.

But the barrier to determining whether the Golden Dome will be a financial windfall in Colorado Springs is the lack of clarity. There is uncertainty about which components of the 1,400-person Space Command remain in the city.

“Not everything is moving, so when we say lobbying, we are lobbying to make sure it’s clear.” Mobolade explain.

The White House did not respond to the New York Times request for comment.

City officials rely not only on the golden dome to offset the balance of losing Space Command.
