Colorado Springs mayor Yemi Mobolade Tell the Washington Times that his city hopes remain a player in the space defense department.

The Golden Dome project will be led by Space Command, meaning many of the hundreds of dollars allocated to the project will be pointed to Huntsville.
But Andy Merritt, who runs a defensive-centric business park, called Catalyst Campus, said Golden Dome should create considerable opportunities and cash flow for Colorado Springs.
The U.S. Northern Command is responsible for homeland defense and is designated as the future operator of the Golden Dome, and the North American Aerospace Defense Command is in Colorado Springs. Defense contractors expected to participate in the project have locations near the city, and the U.S. Air Force Academy is also located in El Paso County, Colorado.
But the barrier to determining whether the Golden Dome will be a financial windfall in Colorado Springs is the lack of clarity. There is uncertainty about which components of the 1,400-person Space Command remain in the city.
“Not everything is moving, so when we say lobbying, we are lobbying to make sure it’s clear.” Mobolade explain.
