A brush fire was lit near a San Diego County home on Monday afternoon, damaging multiple buildings and prompting evacuation orders for surrounding lakeside communities.
The fire, known as the Coches 2 Fire, began around 3 p.m. north of Interstate 8 on Los Coches Road on the lakefront, according to the San Diego Department of the California Department of Forestry and Fire.
Captured helicopter lens NBC7 News It showed that smoke engulfed several hillside structures, as ground personnel attacked the flames with hoses, and the fixed-wing aircraft dropped water from above.
Cal Fire said the progress of the 5.3-acre fire stopped at 4:30 p.m., when the fire accounted for 5%.
It is not clear how many structures have been damaged or damaged. One Cal Fire Captain told NBC7 that at least one civilian was injured.
