Surveillance video released by the Carlott Regional Transportation System (CATS) shows that 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska took to the Lynx Bline series after 9:45 pm on Friday, August 22.
Video shows Zarutska wearing a pizzeria uniform while scrolling on her phone. A man in a red hoodie was seen sitting behind her.
About four minutes later, the man pulled out a knife and began stabbing Zarutska three times, at least once in the neck.

Zarutska, who fled the Ukrainian war town, grabbed his neck as blood spilled onto the floor. Authorities later announced her death at the scene.
The video shows the suspect walking through the railroad car, taking off his sweatshirt and waiting at the door while the passengers look.
The suspect was identified as 34-year-old decarlos Brown, arrested and hospitalized shortly after the stabbing, and then arrested First-degree murder.

Records obtained New York Post Proving Brown has an arrest history that goes back over a decade, including felony theft, robbery with dangerous weapons and communicating threats. Police said Brown and Zarutska did not know each other and the attack was random.

Zarutska’s death re-called for Charlotte’s public safety action. Members of Charlotte City Council expressed concern after Zarutska murdered violence in the city’s transit system.
